GUIDE

Morehouse force measuring systems are calibrated in accordance with A2LA and can be calibrated to ASTM E74 as well as ISO 376. Many other laboratories calibrate force measuring systems in accordance with A2LA, but do not offer A2LA accredited ASTM E74 calibrations (make sure to ask them, because you might not be getting what you need). Our force measuring systems laboratory has facilities for calibrating from 0.1 LBF through 1,000,000 LBF, or its equivalent in Kilograms or Newtons in either tension or compression under controlled conditions featuring Deadweight Calibrations up to 120,000 LBF with weights directly calibrated by N.I.S.T. The calibration of all of our equipment is traceable to N.I.S.T. Please contact us if you need force measuring systems pricing or calibration.

Our calibration services include, dead weight force measurement of load cells, load rods, load rings, force gauges, proving rings, crane scales, brinell calibrators, strain gauges, traction dynamometers, electronic dynamometers, loop rings, bolt testers, dynalinks, dynafors, dillon ed-2000’s and extremes, single acting cylinders, clevis pins, push/pull gauges, and more. Morehouse’s cal lab features a 120,000 LBF Morehouse dead weight machine. We offer A2LA accredited ASTM E74 calibration services as well as ISO 376. The calibration services we offer on all equipment are traceable to the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology. All force standards used by Morehouse comply with ASTM specification E 74 and ISO guide 17025. In addition, we are also accredited to perform ISO 376 calibration services.

Morehouse’s calibration systems can be of service to you whether you want to establish your complete in house force standards laboratory or require periodic calibration of your load cells or other force measuring instruments from .1lbf to 1,000,000 LBF. In 2004 Morehouse finished construction of its new force calibration systems lab. This lab features a 120,000 LBF Morehouse dead weight machine which allows us to calibrate and put together the best possible calibration systems with the lowest uncertainties. Not only does this new machine allow us to give our customer the best possible results, it also allows us to check primary standards up to 120,000 LBF at a fraction of the cost other labs charge. Please contact us (717)–843–0081 for further information about our calibration systems.

Morehouse has developed laboratory and other force calibration standards for measuring systems of engineering materials, strength testing machines and metal hardness testers. Morehouse has built a state of the art laboratory to calibrate these standards. The force calibration laboratory features the best standards from dead weight primary standards with ranges from .1 to 120,000 LBF with uncertainties better than .002% of applied load to transfer standards from 120,000 thru 1,000,000 LBF with uncertainties better than 20 LBF. All of the force calibration services offered are traceable directly to the National Institute of Standards and Technology and certified accordingly. Special procedures can be performed per requests. Today, Morehouse is the world leader in precise and unquestionable measurements and force calibration.

Force gages are a low-cost calibrating instrument for use where high accuracy certified proving rings or load cells are not required. Force gages are constructed of an elastic steel load ring with a precision dial indicator that gives a direct reading in pounds (also available with a digital readout). Ring force gauges are supplied with tapped holes in the external bosses so they can be fitted with adaptors, accessories, mounting brackets or base plates. Standard fittings are supplied with compression and tension models to facilitate calibrations and other uses. They are used as a prime weighing device or permanent load-sensing component in testing equipment. Calibration of certain testing machines, weighing devices, assembly presses, control instruments, cable tension and soil testing are done with force gages.

Morehouse offers load cell calibration service using dead weight primary standards up to 120,000 LBF and transfer standards up to 1,000,000 LBF. Load cell calibration can be performed in accordance with ASTM –E74 or ISO 376, accreditation with ISO guide 17025 is also offered. Morehouse offers a calibration system that eliminates the need for load tables with a program that was designed to use the coefficients from a report and apply them to the live signal of either a model 4214 or cellmite indicator. The system is setup so the unit displays load cell calibration in mV/V. The end user can read direct engineering units in LBF, KGF and Newtons via a computer interface. This type of load cell calibration system is a true direct reading system.

Our force measurement and calibration facilities and procedures are documented in a controlled Quality Assurance Program Manual that provides for the general requirements and competence of calibration and testing laboratories. Our force measurement standards laboratory has facilities for calibrating in either tension or compression under controlled conditions featuring Deadweight Calibrations up to 120,000 LBF with weights directly calibrated by N.I.S.T. All force measurement standards used by Morehouse comply with ASTM specification E 74 and ISO guide 17025. Our Dead Weight uncertainty is .002 percent of applied load. Our uncertainty from 120,000 up to 1,000,000 LBF is less than 20 LBF. When the calibration standards have such low uncertainties it often benefits the standard being calibrated lowering that standards calibration and force measurement uncertainty.

Morehouse offers ultra precision, precision and other load cells calibrated in accordance with ASTM E74 or ISO 376. Morehouse load cells have a Class A and Class AA loading range from 2 to 10 percent of capacity in compression and tension when calibrated in mV/V or combined with our model 4215 meter. Morehouse calibration grade load cells above 100,000 LBF will have a guaranteed uncertainty of around .02 percent of capacity or better (Class A lower limit of better than 8 percent). Morehouse is the only accredited commercial laboratory that can calibrate class AA lower limits up to 120,000 LBF. Morehouse is the only supplier that can provide calibration with capacities through 120,000 LBF using dead weights in our own load cells Force Calibration Laboratory.
